A name with history

Where does the "Schedererhaus" get its name from?

You may have wondered where the name "Schederer" comes from, especially as we are the Albrecht family and not the Schederer family.

The name "Schederer" is the old farm name and goes back to the traditional profession of our ancestors, "Schedern". The Schederer's job was to supply and install so-called Scheder stones (gate pillars). The scheder stone is a roughly shaped, narrow, obelisk-shaped boulder in which the gate pillar is set.

Such scheder stones or gate pillars are frequently found in Going and demarcate the area of the farm from the open field.

We still have the remains of such old Schedersteine stones from our Schedererhof farm in our garden as a reminder. May they always remind us of the old craft of the Schederer.

When my parents tore down the Schedererhof in 1992 to build new apartments in Going, we all knew that we wanted to keep the house name. This is how the old Schedererhof became today's Schedererhaus vacation apartments in Going am Wilden Kaiser.
