Winter holidays off the slopes - snowy fun on the Wilder Kaiser

Skiing alternatives for your holiday in Tyrol

If you want to enjoy your winter holiday without skiing or simply want to do something off the slopes, you will find many ways to enjoy winter holidays without skiing near our holiday flats in Going am Wilden Kaiser. Tyrol is a true winter paradise for everyone, not only skiers and snowboarders!

The weekly winter program of the Wilder Kaiser keeps what it promises: select daily from a wide range of active things you can do, with a focus on outdoor, hiking, family and traditions.

Winter hiking

Winter hiking on the Wilder Kaiser keeps you fit and healthy.

Enjoy the tranquility and unspoiled nature along more than 100 km of prepared and groomed winter hiking trails in the Wilder Kaiser vacation region. Hike in the most beautiful natural landscapes of Tyrol and let your spirit run free. Life does not always have to be fast and turbulent - strength lies in peace!

In Going, you can, inter alia, walk around the lake or admire the Wilder Kaiser Mountains from the Hollenauer Kreuz hut. You can also walk up to the Wochenbrunner Alm hut in Ellmau. At 1,080 meters, you will be rewarded with a unique view of the valley.

Snowshoe hiking

Snowshoe hiking is a healthy alternative to skiing.

It's up to you if you'd like to explore the pristine Wilder Kaiser alone or with a guide. Stomp through the powder snow at your own pace and enjoy the moments of absolute peace and quiet. One highlight is the monthly full moon snowshoe hike in Going led by a hiking guide.

Hire the perfect snowshoes from Goingsport, the local sports shop located nearby.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing on the Wilder Kaiser is a perfect winter activity for your holiday in Tyrol!
Our region is made for cross-country skiing: the rolling countryside at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser offers both beginners and experienced skiers a wide variety of perfectly groomed trails. The region has about 60 km of groomed trails, which are mostly on the sunny side of the valley, as the names Sonnseitloipe in Söll or Sonnenloipe in Scheffau suggest. The Blattl Loipe in Going leads you through picturesque natural landscapes, which will leave a lasting memory.

If you are still in the mood for sporting activities in the evening, then try the floodlit night trails in Scheffau. The 1.1 km long trail is covered with snow and is floodlit until 21:30.

Discover many other winter activities on your holiday at the Schedererhaus including:
